Charity Opus Launches With Limited-Edition NYT-Bestselling Horror Author Stephen Graham Jones Collection Supporting Fight for the First
New literary fundraising platform transforms reading into direct support for the freedom to read
SOMERVILLE, NJ — June 19th, 2026 — Charity Opus, a new mission-driven digital publishing platform, officially launches today with a limited-edition horror collection featuring multiple-award-winning and bestselling author Stephen Graham Jones in partnership with Open Road Integrated Media and supporting Fight for the First, a national initiative of the EveryLibrary Institute dedicated to defending libraries and protecting the freedom to read
The inaugural collection features six critically acclaimed ebooks curated for horror aficionados and literary fans alike. Fifty percent of net proceeds from every purchase will directly support Fight for the First’s efforts to combat censorship, defend libraries, and protect access to books and ideas across the United States.

As book bans and censorship efforts continue to accelerate nationwide, Charity Opus aims to create a new model for literary fundraising by connecting readers, publishers, authors, and nonprofits through premium, limited-time ebook events tied to meaningful causes.
“Books have always had the power to change minds and shape culture,” said Kelley Allen, founder of Charity Opus and former Head of Books at Humble Bundle. “Charity Opus was built around a simple idea: reading itself can become an act of participation. Readers are not just buying books — they are helping defend the freedom to read.”
“At the EveryLibrary Institute, we are focused on defending the freedom to read wherever it is under threat,” said John Chrastka, Executive Director of EveryLibrary Institute. “Our partnership with Charity Opus provides direct support for this work, ensuring that readers can play an active role in protecting access to books and ideas.”
Fight for the First supports libraries, librarians, educators, and local communities facing active censorship challenges and works to protect access to diverse voices and ideas nationwide.
