  4. Reading Trends During COVID - Freckle Research Oct 2021

A mission-critical question for library leaders as we move through the COVID crisis is how to anticipate changes to Americans' reading habits, their points of access to reading materials, and the ways that people choose to read.

In October 2021, the Freckle Report and the EveryLibrary Institute continued a research partnership that asked the American public "Where Did You Get That Book?"  Please join us on Thursday, November 18th at 12 noon EST to learn the results of the survey and compare longitudinal changes since before the pandemic. RSVP now to join lead Freckle researcher Tim Coates and ELI executive director John Chrastka for a live webinar conversation.

Since 2019, the Freckle Project has attempted to understand who is reading, how much reading has changed, and in what format (print, eBooks and Audio) reading happens. The October 2021 survey follows closely on an April 2021 "Where Did You Get That Book" survey that found a significant shift from print books to ebooks as well as clear information on the role of libraries in the reading ecosystem. These surveys are particularly notable because they took place during COVID-related shutdowns of American society - and especially our public libraries - and the restoration of public access.

The webinar will include audience Q&A. You can access the April 2021 "Where Did You Get That Book" webinar at https://www.everylibraryinstitute.org/freckle2021 anytime.

Please RSVP today to receive your link to the live event and to the on-demand archive for later viewing.
