[WEBINAR] Media Literacy: Librarian Train-the-Trainer Workshop

Join us for this webinar series!

Join PEN America and The EveryLibrary Institute for an exclusive two-part media literacy training for library educators on Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 28 at 2:00pm Eastern time.

These consecutive 60-minute workshops will provide resources for librarians to lead trainings for the public and their constituents regarding best practices in media literacy education to empower online users to combat disinformation. In the first session, we’ll look at the proliferation of disinformation and misinformation in the news and how to guide news consumers to spot fraudulent news. In the second session, we’ll review the components of PEN America’s media literacy toolkit and how they can be applied to COVID-19 disinformation, false content during an election season, and everything in between. At the end of each session, Nora Benavidez, the facilitator and director of U.S. Free Expression programs at PEN America, will open the virtual floor to questions and interactive discussion about experiences teaching media literacy, both triumphant and challenging.
